Let’s Help send Tyler for treatment

Hello everyone, I was lucky enough to meet an amazing person through work, who I now consider him and his family a part of mine. I have never met a single family that has endured so much pain; physically and mentally then keep pushing on everyday with a smile. I’ve read a few places that you know you’re surrounded by good people when they are willing to help you no matter what, even when they may need help more than yourself. That statement describes Tyler, his mother and father (Jackie and Tim) to a T.

Myself, Dr. Brokleg, and the entire Slactavis team are beyond grateful to have met such an amazing and supportive family. We would like to raise as much as possible to send Tyler back to Rock Hill, NY to Dr. Rosa to get more treatment to better his situation, and try to be as pain free as possible.

**During his junior year in high school 2017 to 2018 Tyler suffered a devastating injury in which his C1 vertebrae was knocked off its axis almost internally decapitating him. The spinal cord and brain stem were compressed causing an array of problems with lack of motor function, brain fog, temperature regulation, trouble swallowing, and numbness in the hands and feet. The most significant damage was done to the central nervous system causing him to be in excruciating pain 24/7 these past six years. He has traveled to Boston Children’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic and back and forth between Unity and Strong hospitals here in Rochester. Finally in 2021 he visited Dr. Scott Rosa in Rock Hill, NY a world renowned doctor specializing in the type of injury Tyler has suffered. The upright MRI and subsequent treatment plan has helped guide his medical team to the next logical step, and there have been improvements. However, Tyler has hit a wall and his team here in Rochester have determined another visit to Rock Hill and Dr Rosa would help develop a more effective treatment plan moving forward.**

Tyler is past the point of receiving help from insurance, and they will not cover Dr. Rosa's diagnostic testing or treatment. In 2021 the cost of the upright/vertical MRI and following four days of treatment was $10,000. The additional cost of hotel and travel were $3,000. Making the total cost of the treatment $13,000. With inflation two years later Slactavis wanted to a set the goal a little higher so they can get there with no hiccups.
