Let's help support the Woldman family

My name is Mandy McCarthy and I am starting a go fund me for our dear friends, the Woldmans. Mike Woldman became ill and was hospitalized in the ICU six weeks ago with an infection that created open wounds on his leg and abdomen. This landed him multiple surgeries and complications. Since the last surgery he was transferred to UIC in their ICU due to Hepatorenal Syndrome. This means his kidneys have stopped working due to his liver not working properly. Currently, Mike is fighting hard and the doctors and nurses are working to get him stable and strong enough to get him on the transplant list for a new liver. Once he’s eligible, he will go to the top of the transplant list. For anyone who doesn't know, transplants are often risky and require A LOT of medical care - before, during, and for months afterwards. This will also require a 4-6 week stay in the city to allow Mike to be seen every other day to make sure he doesn't reject the new liver or gain a new infection. Andrea (his wife) has been driving everyday to Chicago to be with Mike while also trying to keep a somewhat balanced life for their two boys at home. Andrea has not been able to work and Mike's job put him on FMLA without pay. Due to the housing for the hospital being full, Andrea has no choice but to travel back and forth everyday. Along with travel expenses, they will have many medical bills and other incurring expenses for months and years to come. If you could find it in your hearts to donate anything, this family could truly use it at this time, especially with Christmas around the corner.
