Let's help the Grigsbys!

Sara and Chuck Grigsby need your support. Sara has just made it back home from a very scary period at Sparrow Hospital, and she is far from out of the woods. She was diagnosed earlier this year with Lupus (a very serious disease in which the body attacks itself) along with Porphyria (a very rare blood disorder that affects fewer than 200,000 people in the United States). Currently, there is no cure for this inherited metabolic disorder. She at least had some answers to why she has had so much unexplained medical trouble in the past, but a few weeks ago, she ended up in the ER with a blood clot that extends from her jugular vein into her brain, causing exceptional pain in addition to affecting her vision, along with other seriously debilitating effects. Since another clot was found in another major organ, doctors are using blood thinners to try to undo these problems. With the fragile medical state she’s in, Sara is presently unable to earn an income, and has been told it may take 3-6 months for her to get back on her feet. Chuck’s consulting business, which requires travel, has also been curtailed, as he has become Sara's caretaker.

The difficulties, uncertainty, and stress they and their son Xander are facing surely do not need to be described further. Friends of the Grigsbys have set up this GoFundMe to help reduce the stress during this unexpected and overwhelming time. An individual or a family can never know when they’re going to suddenly find themselves in a situation like this, and without national health insurance, these events can be devastating to those who get a bad roll of the dice.
