Let's help the Hunt family rebuild their lives
Dear family, friends, and caring community members,
On Jan 11th ,the Hunt family home of 10 years in Lower Sackville, NS, Canada, was involved in the devastating fire concerning the Loppie-Steiger family. This was a shared family duplex. Their side did incur smoke, water, and property damage. As a result, they were quickly displaced and had to leave their things behind.
They do have tenant insurance, but have since been relocated to temporary housing (twice), are heavily burdened by outstanding bills from their former home related to the fire, and now must replace their home as well. It’s been almost two months, and they still haven’t gotten their personal belongings back.
As if this wasn’t bad enough, their landlord has decided not to repair, has stated intention to sell, and requested everything be quickly removed. They are now struggling to secure long term accommodation in Sackville/Bedford. Gerrid was raised in the area and would love to continue raising his family of 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and their beloved dog Griz there.
They have also had to take extended time off work. Gerrid continues to heal from injuries sustained after entering the burning house to save Jermaine’s life, and the entire family is undergoing therapy to cope with the devastating aftereffects of the fire.
It is time for us to come together and reciprocate the love and strength the Hunts have been sharing with the community for years. Every contribution reminds the Hunt family they are not alone. Together, we can help them recover and begin the next chapter of their lives. Thank you for your generosity.
With heartfelt gratitude,
