Let's Help the Khar Family

Hi, my name is Hydar Zalawar and I am fundraising on the behalf of the Khar family. The Khar family is an underprivileged family from Pakistan that needs our help. Out of the six kids in the family, three of them have been suffering from a deadly disease called Thalassemia Major, which is a blood disorder that involves having less than the normal amount of oxygen-carrying proteins. It is caused by the mutations in the DNA of cells that make hemoglobin, a substance in your body that carries oxygen throughout your body. This rare disorder is an inherited disease that has incredibly burdened the family both emotionally and financially.

I am reaching out to you because the affected family cannot support it financially. The father, Baba Tehsil Khar, is the sole-earner of this family and does so by selling fruits on the side of a road from a small cart. Although does this from dusk to dawn every day, he cannot meet the basic needs to support his family and to support the medical needs of both his daughters and his parents' illnesses. My own father had met Mr. Khar randomly at the Department of Health Office in Pakistan and decided to hear his situation out. Since then, my dad and I have been trying to support them in anyway possible. The daughters that are affected, Nadia and Shahada, are 10 and 12, respectively. The only son, Ziauddin, has also previously suffered from the genetic disorder.

The family is currently struggling to make end needs for the medications the two daughters need on a monthly basis and will require a bone marrow transplant for both of them in the near future. The cost of the medications and the two transplants come out to $45,000 and the family needs our help in reaching that goal. I am asking for our community to come together with prayers and support as they go through this life-changing tragedy.

All proceeds will go directly to the family to cover the costs of the transplants. Any amount will go a long way in bringing peace to a family that is going through immense hardship.
