Supporting the McKnight family!!

If you know Shelli McKnight, you can't help but love her! To Scott, Amanda, Jewell and Janice, Shelli is a precious wife, mom, daughter and sister. To the rest of us, Shelli is our friend, our Delta Air Lines family, and even 2nd mother to some of our kids. We have each been blessed by Shelli and her family... now they need our support so that they can focus on the journey and fight to help her get better.

On October 9, 2023 while walking with her family into Truist Park to watch the Atlanta Braves, Shelli suffered a left sided, hemorrhagic stroke. With close proximity to a stadium medic tent, quick action by personnel and Wellstar Kennestone Hospital being within minutes of the stadium, Shelli was able to receive immediate emergency care.

The first few days were full of fear, questions and emergency surgery to relieve pressure in her skull. Each day since then, Shelli has shown small improvements that are exciting to see. She will open her eyes when spoken to, squeeze your hand when you ask her to, and smile when you tell her that you love her. She has moved her legs and her head a little. She responds to 80's music with movement. She raises her eyebrows when you tell her something funny. She is clearly trying to engage. These are all very good things...

With Shelli responding, it's unclear to anyone just what the treatment plan will be and how long it will last. Scott and the McKnight family are aware of numerous people who are reaching out to help in any possible way yet there's not much in the moment that can be done with day to day needs. It was discussed with Scott the idea of his friends starting a GoFundMe that will provide flexibility to the immediate McKnight family so they can be there for Shelli as she starts to heal. Scott has humbly accepted this offer with gratitude.

We talked about things that he may need in the coming future, and we've listed them below so that you will know how this money can fill some gaps.

What will your money be used for?
• To help cover out of pocket expenses that insurance does not. As we are in October already, they will meet their max out of pocket for 2023 and 2024's is just around the corner.
• To help supplement as Shelli's sick time / vacation days run out and short term and long-term disability are paid at a reduced rate.
• To help supplement when Scott's sick time and vacation days run out as FMLA is unpaid. This will allow Scott to be with her for an extended time if needed.
• To assist with travel and meals between Newnan and Kennestone Hospital... Scott, Amanda and Jewell are driving 60 miles one way to visit each day.
• .... and we all know that random things present themselves at the most inopportune times.

Amanda has done and will continue to do an amazing job of updating her momma’s progress and needs during this recovery journey. Prayers, cards, and other means of care are very much appreciated, and we ask for those to continue. If you are looking for another way to help... this is one. No amount is too small.

In the future, there will be opportunity for a meal train and likely other things. So, stay tuned as we pray for Shelli's complete recovery.

Thank you everyone!!

We all love you, Shelli McKnight!
