Lets Help Trudy get her wheelchair
Donation protected
Hi my name is Chantel, I'm Trudy's daughter.
Trudy, my mum, has suffered over the years with what we now know to be Lewy Body Dementia, LBD. For those who don't understand what LBD is, it has the physical symptoms of Parkinson's Disease, a brain disorder that can lead to problems with thinking, movement, behaviour, and mood. Visual hallucinations, sleep disorders or seeing things that are not there are just some symptoms that tend to happen early on.
While Trudy has experienced the above symptoms for some time, these symptoms were exacerbated by the immense grief she felt/feels each day after losing her youngest child only two years ago. Unfortunately, just in the past couple of months, we have noticed the symptoms worsen noticeably, and we are now at a point where she can no longer walk unassisted.
Trudy's quality of life has been a challenge for us all. Watching someone, you love so much struggle is the hardest thing in the world. Trudy manages many difficult times, and there will be many more difficult ones ahead, including loss of identity, mobility, control and the immense struggles this presents for her daily.
More than anything, I want my mum to be able to LIVE and make the most of each day as it comes.
I started this go-fund page to help raise money for a new electric wheelchair. This particular personal mobility device is called WHILL. I'll put a little video of it up for all to see. It's small, compact, and easy to put in the car, giving her independence and freedom.
Anything you can do to help will be appreciated beyond comprehension.
