Let's help Ursula fight cancer

This Go Fund Me is being set up to support our dear friend Ursula Collins Gorman in her battle with squamous cell carcinoma of the parotid gland and help defray the financial burdens associated with her extensive and costly medical care.

For those of you that know Ursula already know she is kind, compassionate, loving, generous, has the most beautiful soul inside and out. She is a dedicated mother to Adam, Devin and Brynne, the proudest Grandmother to Summer, Collin and Howie and a beloved sister, aunt and friend to so many of us. She's always looking out for others and donating to causes on the Go Fund Me pages that she has no personal connection with.

Setting this up with Ursula was a bit of a challenge at first because she is so humble and felt apprehensive about accepting help, but with some encouragement and persuasion from a few she finally agreed, thanking us "from the bottom of her heart".

Ursula's cancer first appeared as a tiny lump on her right cheek but grew rapidly and she sought medical care soon thereafter. She saw several doctors and had multiple tests including biopsies and scans that revealed it was cancerous. She was referred to Dana Farber Cancer Institute where her cancer was determined to be highly aggressive. A combination of immunotherapy, and daily radiation for 7 weeks, was to begin ASAP, after which time she will be re-evaluated. She is not quite halfway through her radiation and has had to miss a few sessions. The pain has been unbearable for her and her medications are being tweaked often. Ursula has lost a tremendous amount of weight and has a feeding tube now which will allow her to regain some of her weight and strength. She is also receiving fluids regularly to help. She has moved in with one of her sisters and she is receiving the love, support and care she needs now.
