Lets help Will get through this....

During April this year Will began to experience slight numbness down the left side of his lower body. He decided to visit Southmead Hospital where he was sent for CT and MRI scans. Within 48 hours of visiting, our dear Will learnt that he had been diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme. Will turned 47 a few days later, on April 28th.
Glioblastomas are grade 4 brain tumours and are the most common and aggressive primary malignant brain tumour.
Due to the lack of effective treatment options, Cancer Research UK has included glioblastoma in the category of ‘cancers of substantial unmet need’.
Will is a former Royal Marine and Personal Trainer, and until this point was an exceptionally fit and healthy man focused on working hard, living a fulfilled life and looking after his beautiful 12-year-old son of whom he is immensely proud.
The NHS treatment options for Glioblastomas include surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. However, Will has been advised that, due to its location, his tumour cannot be surgically resected, and he is currently undergoing a gruelling programme of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. These treatments are being provided by the NHS and Will is incredibly grateful for the excellent care and support he is receiving from his clinical team in Bristol.
Will is absolutely determined to do whatever he can to fight back against this devastating diagnosis and his primary focus is to have more time with his son as he progresses towards adulthood.
Since his diagnosis, Will has been actively exploring innovative treatment options that may maximise his chances of realising his goals. The treatment options that seem most likely at this point are immunotherapy and LITT. Unfortunately, neither are available on the NHS and both are extremely expensive.
Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy for Glioblastoma (LITT) is a minimally invasive ‘ablation’ technique that has been shown to effectively reduce tumour burden in some patients. Following a private consultation on the 18th of June, Will is extremely pleased to learn that he is a suitable candidate for LITT.
Friends and family are rallying to provide a support network for Will through this terribly tough time. We are sharing Will’s story with a view to seeking financial support through crowd funding and general fundraising that will contribute toward treatment costs.
Thank you so much for taking time to visit this page, we will be extremely appreciative of any support you can provide for Will.
