Let’s get jack on the pitch

Hi, We are Peter and Nicola Fulcher. Our son Jack who is 14 years old, has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a muscle-wasting disease that affects 1/3500 boys, which sadly there is no cure for.

We are hoping for help to raise funds for a sports wheelchair for Jack to continue playing wheelchair football. Unfortunately, we have tried, but there is no assistance from the government to help us with funding for this wheelchair for the sport.

Jack started playing around four years ago at Ipswich for the Charioteers WFA. Covid-19 forced the Ipswich club to stop, and it has not re-established itself. Jack moved on to play with Norwich city PFC after being asked to play by one of his old Charioteers teammates last year. Jack loves playing within this team.

Jack has already played in regional matches and has been told by his Norwich coach that he has the potential to play at the national level and maybe go further.

At this moment in time, Jack is using a loan wheelchair sort term. Jack desperately needs his own custom-fitted sports wheelchair for him to be able to continue playing this sport. The wheelchair needed for Jack is a strike force power chair made in the USA; this chair is used and recommended by the club.

Before Covid-19 started, Jack was a very happy boy who was full of confidence and had a great sense of humour. When covid struck, Jack's sense of humour and confidence sadly hit an all-time low. Jacks anxiety levels raised, which led Jack unable to attend mainstream school. Jack is now having to be home schooled. With covid-19 restrictions slowly being eased, It still remains tough for Jack to be able to socialise and which has proven hard on Jack to gain his confidence back.

WheelChair football has started to play a big part in turning things around for Jack and is also giving him the ambition to go further in this sport which we want to encourage him to do so while he is still able.
