Let's keep Marny and Wayne together!

Hi, my name is Len. I am Wayne and Marny's son in law. I am fundraising for these two amazing people, Marny and Wayne Dickson are very private and proud people so this was a bit hard to put this together. But they do need our help and sometimes it does take a village.

The reason that I am raising funds for them is that their situation is not the greatest. At the end of October 2023 Marny at 66 years old suffered a massive stroke. It's was touch and go but she came through. She was left with no movement on her right side initially. In the past 4 months she has worked hard and has gained back some function but not with her right arm at this time.

While Marny has been working on getting well. Her husband Wayne at 79 has been working hard to prepare for a safe place for Marny and himself upon her release date on Feb 2nd 2024. Sadly it has been determined that their family home is not viable nor safe for Marny to return . This has created a situation as Wayne can not pay on the house and pay for her extended care in a facility at the same time.

They are working to find a lodge or care home where than can go in together. Wayne and Marny have decided to sell the house which will allow for them to afford the lodge.

But it will take at least a few months for them to get the house sold that will help them in the long term. But as far as the here and now. Marny is leaving the hospital on Feb 2nd. She can not go stay at the house. So she will either get into the lodge for her and Wayne or go to a transition bed while they wait for the lodge. The transition bed is 62 dollars a day and could be there for 3 months. (1800) a month. Or the lodge will have a spot in the near future which is about 3700 a month. In either case they can not afford to pay on the house and what goes with that as well as either of the above choices at the same time. Also as an aside. When Marny had the stroke they also lost her work income at the same time. So a double hit. In the end I am looking to raise 20,000.00 dollars to help with the upcoming extra housing costs as well as the costs of getting the house ready for sale. Also to help with some of the daily extra expenses like fuel as Wayne drives an hour everyday to go see Marny.

Wayne and Marny have been proud and active members of their community for decades. Their goal is to continue to be part of the community once all is settled.
