Let's launch Mija Hot Yoga!

Hello friends, fam, and fellow yogis!

For those of you I haven’t met, my name is Adrianna Audoma. I was once a practitioner, fan, and friend of Home Hot Yoga and even got down and dirty as a Karma Yogi. And I, maybe like you, really stinkin’ miss the vibrant community and sweaty joy I found at HHY.

Over the last 3 years, my mind has returned again and again to the idea of opening a yoga studio, building a community, bringing ease and peace to people’s bodies and minds, and reengaging with my St. John’s neighbors. And for the last 3 years this idea was merely a passing thought, a pipedream.

2023 was a big year for me. The tectonic plates of my inner and outer life shifted in major ways and the idea of a studio, of course, revisited my mind. During a visit to Southern California to be with family after a major loss, I went out with my mom for a drink and a laugh. We reminisced and mused as we do, and the conversation turned to the future. I hadn’t shared the idea of opening a studio with anyone, ever. It was too silly. Too out of reach. Too...

I shared with her my secret, spilled the beans on my pipedream. And instead of scoffing or brushing off the idea as an unattainable, risky endeavor, she encouraged me. And I emailed Kay and Orlo the next day.

That was 6 months ago. Since then, I’ve worked on turning this idea into a reality. And I’ve done so with the generous help of friends, colleagues, and our favorite duo, K & O. I haven’t been alone on this journey and I am deeply grateful for that. Now, I am seeking help from the North Portland community (and beyond!) to fully realize this dream.

I am asking for help to open the doors of Mija Hot Yoga. In Spanish, mi hija means my daughter and I felt that this name embodied the process of my personal growth. I have been raised by many mothers, as I think we all have; mothers in the shape of mentors, teachers, friends, or partners. Personally, I have felt nourished and raised by many people in my life and I honor them all through the opening and offerings of this space.

I am launching a crowdfunding campaign to raise $15,000 to assist in the startup costs of bringing life back to the St. John’s studio that once housed Home Hot Yoga. Your donation would go towards furnishing the space, purchasing mats and towels, exterior signage, paint, and more. I would be thrilled and humbled to feel the support of the St. John’s community in any way, shape, or size. If you feel compelled to donate, you can do so here.

If your excitement is compelling you to outright purchase a membership, I am offering 10 founder’s memberships which are available for purchase at https://mijahotyoga.com. Founder’s memberships are good for one year of unlimited hot yoga plus cute merch and free booch (plus you save $440 a year)!

I have so many ideas and plans for Mija, but first and foremost, I intend for Mija to be a space for the community. So, I welcome ideas, dreams, and suggestions. This is a space for YOU. Please feel free to reach out and share your fondest memories of Home Hot Yoga, secret dreams for Mija, questions about me and the studio, or a simple hello!

Thank you for your support and see you in the hot room Spring 2024!
