Lets save our girls in Tigray

Tax deductible
Give a new chance to young girls in Tigray!

Their chance to attend high school was hampered by long distances, having to walk 30-50
kilometers to and from to finalize their education. An NGO called Berri Maida took action,
and established girls’ hostels, with the aim of supporting those girls by providing
accommodation and education. By doing so, Berri Maida did its bit to minimize the
poverty-related
gaps so that rural girls could continue their high school education, and not drop out.

Then, a brutal war came to Tigray, where the whole population was targeted. But in
particular, young girls bore the brunt of the atrocities, by being exposed to widespread
sexual violence, hunger bordering famine, and having to take up arms to survive. The
infrastructure that gave them shelter and provided them with education were ransacked and
looted by the invading forces.

Now, with relative peace installed, the time has come to rebuild its physical structures and
provide necessary rehabilitation to its former target group, which now is displaced and
traumatized.

Your kind contribution will help us to:

Assess the damages that have been done.

Rebuild the structures, and provide new accommodation for 160 girls.

Get Berri Maida back to what it was; a well-functioning organization providing education to
160 girls through the pilot project/center, offering lodging and boarding as well as necessary
equipment. In addition to the effort to rebuild the first project site, Berri Maida is opening its
second girls’ hostel and education center in the town of Hagreselam, district of Degua
Tembien in Tigray region.

Thus, give us the chance to scale up and help even more girls.
