Let’s Save The Quarry Golf Course
Donation protected
We are raising funds for The Quarry Golf Course after flood waters left over 120 acres of the golf course under water. The majority of The Quarry has been underwater since June 2nd. As a result, we will be closed at least until the middle of July.
Many of our family, friends, and loyal customers have been asking how they can help us during this recovery process, and many have already offered financial support. While we were initially reluctant to use a platform like this, we are so thankful to have a community who wants to help us!
We have a $350,000 loss of revenue as a result of being closed during June and most of July. Listed below are some of the additional expected expenses.
Our first step in golf course repair starts with the removal of the water. The only way this water can exit the property is by physically pumping it out. We have rented 10 industrial pumps that will run 24/7 for three weeks, at an expense of more than $110,000.
Once the water is gone, we will evaluate the loss of turf. We already know that 50 acres of fescue rough has been lost. Number 6 and 13 bentgrass greens have died, and smaller portions of two other greens will be lost as well. As bad as that sounds, we are especially concerned about the health of the 10 acres of zoysia grass that remain underwater. This will add another $50,00 to the recovery cost.
The process for repairs would begin with seeding the 50 acres of fescue grass rough as soon as possible. We would also need to seed the greens on 6 and 13 in late July or August which would produce playable turf by early Spring. We would also sod portions of number 4 and 14 greens with sod from local nurseries in an attempt to get these holes back in play in 4-6 weeks.
Once we re-open the Golf Course, we expect support from our loyal customer base, but we also expect our business to be down 50% of our normal revenues through the Fall months.
The Quarry has become a "home away from home" to many people, adults and children alike. We are honored to be able to provide our customers/friends with a quality golf course as well as friendly, courteous service. We are hoping that your financial donations can help us survive. Whether you donate or not, we thank you for your kind words and encouragement, and for your prayers that have been so meaningful to us.
Hope to see you soon.
