Let's see where they go...

Based in remote area of Papua New Guinea, the Conflict Islands Conservation Initiative are establishing the first science based Turtle Conservation Program in the region.
Endangered green turtles and critically endangered hawksbill sea turtles are hunted throughout Papua New Guinea, including the Conflict Islands, and the eggs are collected and eaten. This is your chance to make a real difference in protecting these amazing animals.
The Conflict Islands Turtle Hatchery and Nursery programs were developed to help protect these sea turtles. This is done by increasing hatchling survival rates and minimising nest predation by animals AND humans.
We are raising money to purchase satellite tags for some of our neonate and juvenile sea turtles. The money raised will go directly towards purchasing the satellite tags themselves , which cost AUD$1500 each tag!!!
Knowing where our turtles are going once they leave the Conflict Islands will help guide our conservation efforts. This will be the first time satellite tags are used on turtles in this area.
Anyone donating $50 or more please suggest a name for one of our turtles waiting for their tags! The name for each of our lucky turtles that get a sat tag will be chosen from YOUR suggestions and announced on our facebook page .
You will also be able once the satellite tags have been deployed to follow along our turtles. No matter where they go we will be able to see where in the world they are. All will be announced on our Facebook and website (soon to be released) CIConservationInitiative
SO please donate what you can and don’t forget to make a suggestion for a name, yours may be the lucky one chosen!!
Thank you from everyone at the CICI Team.
