Let's Send Kids to Hidden Figures
Donation protected
This time of year I get award shows screeners so I get to see movies like Hidden Figures for free. But it's better for movies representing women and people of color if people pay to see them because then more of these movies get made. So I decided I wanted to pay it forward and pay for other people to see them, preferably kids who might not otherwise be able to go to a movie.
I've selected two groups, Girls Inc. of LA which focuses on STEM education with girls from South LA, Watts and Compton, and a group of 12 year olds from a history class in Alexandria , VA, many of whom are learning English as a second language and are on some sort of assistance.
The goal is to buy about 100 kids tickets. I know this is ambitious, but for just $12 you can buy one ticket. All I need is hundred of people willing to spend $12.
Any money that is left over will go towards sending groups of students from other worthy organizations. There are no shortage of fantastic people trying to support underserved kids.
