Let's send Liam to New Zealand
Donation protected
We are thrilled that Liam will be taking part in this world-class professional rugby program based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The Crusader's story and training resonate with the Rugby programs that Liam has been part of both with the Abbotsford Rugby Club and Trinity Western University Spartans. Here is a little bit more of the story behind the story.
What if a dream could come true — not just for one athlete, but for an entire team, a university, and a nation’s rugby future?
This summer, Liam Olafsen, a dedicated member of the Trinity Western University Spartan Rugby Team, has been invited to the Crusaders Rugby Academy in Christchurch, New Zealand — the training ground of the most successful team in Super Rugby history. It’s a rare and incredible honour, and we’re rallying together to help send him.
Why This Opportunity Matters
Over eight unforgettable weeks, Liam will:
• Train full-time at Rugby Park, the home of the Crusaders
• Compete with elite local clubs
• Live with Kiwi families
• Learn from some of the best rugby coaches on the planet
• Connect with fellow players from around the world
But it’s about more than rugby.
This is about bringing TWU’s Complete Champion vision to life on a global stage — training the body, mind, and spirit. Liam will carry that vision with him, representing not just his team, but his values — and spreading that same spirit of excellence, integrity, and love to new teammates and future friends from all over the world.
"We need to look beyond what we do in Langley. Sending Liam to New Zealand’s hotspot of rugby development helps do this."
— Andrew Evans, TWU Director of Rugby
When Liam returns, he won’t just be a stronger athlete — he’ll be a more complete champion, ready to lead, to mentor, and to inspire.
Here's an invitation to join Liam's team...
We’re raising a minimum of $5,000 to make this dream a reality. Your gift will help cover costs associated with the program, training, homestay, one meal a day, and gear and if we can raise more than $5000 will also provide Liam with a cushion of support for his return to TWU in the fall — since this opportunity means giving up half of his summer income that normally supports his school year.
