My name is Lucy Monge. In June 2020, a mass was discovered on the left side of my abdomen, leading to a diagnosis of neoplasm of the peritoneum. It was surgically removed. Approximately a year later, another tumor was found in my liver, which subsequently spread to my neck, shoulder, spine, and lower back. Radiation treatment proved ineffective, prompting the initiation of chemotherapy. I have now been diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma, a particularly aggressive form of cancer, and am grateful to still be here today by the grace of God. Over the past 3 and a half years, I have been undergoing chemotherapy, though unfortunately, the prognosis remains challenging. As a result, I am currently on medical leave, focusing on prioritizing my health and well-being at home.
