Let’s support Brady as he recovers!

Hi, my name is Margaret and I am a friend of the Gobeil family. I visited Brady in the hospital on Sunday and told him I’d buy him some lottery tickets because he absolutely needs to have something wonderful happen after all he’s been through. My son Seth (who has been a friend of Brady’s since they were babies) suggested a much more realistic gofundme option!
Please read Brady’s story….
In September, during Scarborough’s 4th football game of the season vs. Bonney Eagle, Brady, who played LB, suffered a traumatic knee dislocation. The trauma to the knee caused a blocked artery and he needed emergency surgery to resupply blood flow to his foot and save his leg. After a successful overnight surgery, they brought him back to the operating room in the morning to attach an external metal brace which was screwed into the bones of his leg. He was immobile for many weeks.
Right after Thanksgiving, they were finally ready to repair his torn ACL, PCL & meniscus. Repeated infections, which have required more surgeries, have been a problem since then. This past weekend, Brady was still suffering from pain and a fever and was admitted back into the hospital. During testing, they found an aneurysm forming on his original bypass and a large abscess behind his knee. The doctors determined they had to act immediately before the aneurysm ruptured. Brady underwent his 7th surgery yesterday which took about 8 hours to remove the hardware and grafts from his original knee reconstruction and try to eliminate the infection. They also performed a second bypass surgery on his artery by taking a vein from his healthy leg to use as the bypass vessel. Now he’s back to where he was the night of Sept. 23rd when he was rushed to the hospital from the football field. A long recovery road ahead….again.
Brady will need at least 2 more surgeries to close the artery hole in his leg and repair the knee a second time once the infection clears, which could be 3-6 months from now. He also may need more wash out surgeries if the infection doesn’t clear.
This was supposed to be a fun senior year for Brady. Instead, he has been primarily confined to bed and has missed the many events and fun times that his friends have enjoyed. He has only been able to be in school for a few days in the last 4.5 months.
Brady has been a trooper throughout this ordeal, but the amount of pain and frustration has been staggering. Not to mention the many medical expenses not covered by insurance and that will cut into his college fund. It would be so wonderful to raise enough money to help with the medical bills and a little extra so Brady can buy something for himself and/or maybe have some spending money for college when this nightmare is over.
Thank you so much!
