Let’s support sweet selfless Kelsey

.hey friends! I want to introduce you to one of the sweetest, most selfless creatures God ever created: Kelsey Dreisbach. Those of you who follow my stories are already well acquainted with her as the staff person who adds so much adventure and joy into the life of my disabled daughter Millen. She’s also a sister, daughter, friend, a devoted wife to her husband John, and a loving homeschooling mom to her two darling children. Many of you have noticed her absence from our life for the last several weeks and that’s because she has been facing some… hard times. A few months ago Kelsey discovered, much to her elation that she was pregnant. We were all elated! Kelsey and John were initially guarded as she does have a history of miscarriages, but we were all so hopeful! Shortly after this Kelsey was diagnosed with a kidney infection which couldn’t be fully treated due to the pregnancy… but Kelsey and little baby Dreisbach hung in there and, at a couple of months along, they finally felt confident enough, hopeful enough to announce the soon arrival of their little one. Just a few days later a sonogram revealed that the baby’s heart was no longer beating. The next day, at home, Kelsey miscarried her precious perfect little one… devastating. As the days progressed, instead of gaining strength, Kelsey’s body continued to struggle and she was hospitalized with septicemia. Round after round of antibiotics and her fever continued to spike and she continued to weaken. She completely missed her sweet little daughter’s birthday… at long last she did turn the corner and her body began to respond and recover. Kelsey is now home from the hospital, but she still has a long road ahead. She will need one, possibly two surgeries. She has been diagnosed with both anemia and type 2 diabetes and will need to incorporate treatment and lifestyle changes for those while healing. And, if all of that wasn’t enough, in the midst the family’s elderly and much beloved dog, Lou, was found to have terminal cancer and needed to be put down. So yeah, it’s been a horrific few months for our dear Kelsey and her family! Financially they have been struggling. She has long since used up all of her hard earned PTO, and will lost at least 6 full weeks of pay… although she will be eligible for NYS short term disability, that caps at $170/week and they won’t even see the first payment for weeks. John is so hardworking and diligent, but he’s had to take so much time off without pay to support Kelsey and care for their children. I wish I could just wave a magic wand and make all these trials disappear , but no. We can’t heal Kelsey’s heartache or restore her health. But you know what we can do? We can lift the burden of financial worry and stress off her and John’s shoulders. I’ve started a gofundme campaign for them… the link is in my bio, and I’ll also be sharing the link in my stories all week. I know these are hard times and we are all strapped, but even $1 or $2 two dollars can help. If you can’t do that, we understand… sharing this post, or even just engaging with it will push Kelsey’s story out to more folks who can contribute. Come on my darlings, let’s do this. Let’s help.
