Let’s take care of Liz and Will!

As many of you are aware, Will was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in March. It’s spread to his liver, and it isn’t curable or removable. Will had several abdominal surgeries and biopsies in the ten days he spent in the hospital. He’ll begin chemotherapy tomorrow and we hope to be able to shrink the tumor quickly, which will reduce the pressure on his liver and over all stress and pain on his system. He is scheduled for 6 months of chemotherapy. We hope to know how the chemo is impacting the tumor by May 1st, his 49th birthday. Fortunately, Will and Liz do have medical insurance… unfortunately, no additional coverage beyond short term disability. There are 6-figure student loans, and Will’s mom has dementia and needs care. It’s a LOT y’all. Liz and Will have planned a 21st wedding anniversary trip to Italy in May. Will’s Oncologist has approved the trip and even encouraged it and tweaked the chemo schedule to accommodate it. Liz doesn’t want to think very hard about why the Doctors have been so encouraging for this trip… she’d rather focus on getting there and making it extra special and worry-free. Let’s make it happen!! The time Liz and Will have left together should be full of love and laughter and closeness… not worrying about how they will get to their dream trip or pay the bills.
