Let's unite and save Svilen Vasilev

Donation protected
Svetlina Vasileva is a Bulgarian psychology student based in England. This year she is an exchange student in Australia.

As the family had not seen each other for quite a while, they decided to organise a family reunion in Thailand over the Christmas break.

However, a tragedy occurs: Svilen, Svetlina's father, collapses and is rushed to the nearest hospital in Krabi. Unfortunately the hospital in Krabi cannot provide the necessary medical assistance and Svilen is refused transportation to another hospital.

In desperation Svetlina reached out through social media to her friends across the globe to help her find a way to save her father. With a concerted effort, we were able to arrange for her father to be transported and admitted to a hospital in Bangkok where the diagnosis was a cerebral aneurysm. He has been there for 2 days so far.

Unfortunately his condition is very bad as he has a 3-4 cm brain aneurysm, ten times larger than the norm. The original operation that was supposed to be performed on him is no longer safe to perform.

Other than waiting for Svilen to stabilise, and is a risk, the only other solution is to transport Svilen to a specialised team in Berlin where a complicated procedure known as a coil intervention can be performed.

Unfortunately, Svilen's insurance limit is 20,000 Euro, and the family had to pay for the helicopter transfer (14,000 dollars) with their own funds.

Transporting Svilen from Bangkok to Berlin will cost 90,000 Euro, and the surgery, 120,000.

Please show some compassion and donate whatever sum you can afford, so we can save this wonderful person. Or if you cannot afford to donate, please, do spread the word, as raising awareness is extremely important.

The campaign is organised by an international union of friends of Svetlina, the daughter of the hospitalised man. The main active members of the campaign are Eva Sagasta Díaz, Dimitar Belchev, Ivelina Ivanova, Konstantina Georgieva,  Martyn Rowlands, Simeon Girginov, Valentina Milanova, Victoria Gyuleva, and Vladislava Susanina.

The funds will be transferred to the Vasilevi family account as soon as they are collected. They will be spent on the transportation from Bangkok to Berlin and the following surgery in the German city.

Help spread the word!
