Let's upgrade Mitchy's wheelchair...

Hi everyone,

Almost 10 years ago, we raised over $10,000 to buy Mitch a new wheelchair... And you can bet, nearly a decade later, that that chair has seen better days. It has been taped together, glued together, and even cemented together... But he has since been informed that it can no longer be repaired..... And so, I am calling on all of our wonderful family and friends, to come together once more, to help me in raising funds to get Mitchell a new chair.

On our first fundraising page all those years ago, we wrote-

"Picture the person in your life you admire most, the person you look up to for courage and fearlessness, the person you approach for words of wisdom and support, the person you call on if you just need a good chat or cheer up... Times this by 10 and this is Mitchell Van Tongeren."

To this day, these words still ring true, and I am hoping that with the money raised, Mitch will be able to afford a new wheelchair and live life more comfortably.

For those of you who might not know Mitch, he was born with Cerebral Palsy- a permanent life-long condition. Cerebral Palsy affects people in different ways and can affect body movement, muscle control, muscle coordination, muscle tone, reflex, posture and balance.

For Mitchy, it is all of the above, meaning he requires a wheelchair to be specifically built for him, to accommodate his needs... a costly necessity, for Mitchell to go about his day-to-day life.

Being diagnosed from a very early age, Mitch has lived his life in leg splints, walkers, and wheelchairs... However, you will never hear him complain. He always just finds a way, and 'gets on with it'. But as you can imagine, as Mitch gets older, everything becomes harder, and so for once, I would like something to be easy for Mitch, so please help me in raising funds to get our Mitchy some new wheels!
