In our lives we have all met someone with special needs, but most people have not taken the time to fully understand them.

With your help, I intend to provide neurodivergent children - people my age and younger with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Asperger’s syndrome and hyperactivity disorders - with the opportunities and chance to shine in the way they
deserve.

My name is Ria Bajaj, I’m a senior at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South in New Jersey. Growing up, I had a few friends with special needs and I frequently found myself trying to help these children in school and getting along with them, whereas most other kids shied away.

To me, our differences made us stronger, and I learned an enormous amount from my neuroatypical friends.

With the new skills I gained and lifelong friendships I made, I realized how
amazing these individuals are and how unfairly they are treated by most of
society.

I wanted to make a difference, so I started volunteering at AttachAvi - where my job was to make these children feel included, inspire them, facilitate their social
growth, and empower them.

AttachAvi taught me much more about children with special needs and gave me
countless opportunities to interact and learn from them.

The organization has inspired me to continue giving back and helping those when so much of the society shuns them.

I created this fundraiser with the intent of raising funds for the AttachAvi Autism Foundation, a foundation that provides direction to 100 plus individuals with
special needs.

By combining both, Let’sShineTogether’s mission of supporting neuroatypical
children in maximizing their potential , and AttachAvi’s goal of maintaining daily
life enhancement programs for individuals with special needs, we’ve created a
strong platform in order to help these children.
