Letters of Love

Hi there everyone, my name is Grace and I am the Founder and President of Letters of Love. I was inspired to take action because when I was ten years old, I lost my mom to leukemia. While she was battling cancer, my two younger sisters and I would make her piles of cards to let her know that we were there for her and loved her, even though we couldn’t always be there with her.

After my mom lost her battle, I decided I wanted to dedicate my life to supporting amazing people like her who are battling cancer and other serious illnesses. I started a club at my high school called Letters of Love my junior year to create an opportunity for young people to support patients in Children’s Hospitals around the world. I knew that there was a sufficient amount of knowledge of the importance of financial support, but I wanted to spread awareness for the extreme importance of emotional support. My main goal with Letters of Love is for each and every child battling an illness to know that they are so very loved, important, and have a whole team fighting right along with them.

Letters of Love is a non-profit organization with the goal of bridging the gap between children inside and outside of the hospital. We do this through providing emotional support for patients in Children’s Hospitals around the U.S (and soon around the world)! We want to change the world with small acts of kindness, and spread the message that no matter how young or old you are, you can make a real difference.

While we focus on the importance of emotional support, we strive to complete many projects that require financial support. We’ll be using donations raised on this campaign to help fund a variety of projects.

Children's Book
One of our largest financial needs right now is for our children’s book! Our goal with publishing a Letters of Love Children’s Book is to spread the message to younger children of the impact of small acts of kindness, and how to interact with children who are different from them. Our hope with this book is to start teaching the youngest generation to grow up supporting and loving each other, and ultimately make the world a better, kinder place. The estimated cost of publishing our children’s book is around $3,000, plus the additional cost of around $16 per book.

Cancer Barbie
Another project we are working on is creating a “Cancer Barbie” with Mattel and using Letters of Love funds to donate hundreds of them to children battling cancer around the world.

Events
Our fundraising also goes towards funding events such as our annual Teen Galas, which give teenagers an opportunity to come together for a night solely focused on emotional support activities. A major goal with our galas is to provide this opportunity for everyone, no matter what their financial situation is. This means Letters of Love tries our hardest to fundraise enough money so that our events are free, again bringing the focus back to emotional support.

Therapy and Gifts
This coming year, we are hoping to provide animal therapy for patients and families, as well as continue to give new toys, books, art supplies, and fun technology such as Wii’s and tablets to patients.

Office Space
Lastly, our goal for this coming year is to begin marketing our non-profit and to save up for a small corporate building for our employees and board to work!

With your help, we can change the world to a kinder place by spreading love to the superheroes who need it the most!
