Leukemia Research Foundation- Fence-In

Jonathan Schatz was an 18 year-old member of Northwestern University's Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity when he was diagnosed with leukemia in 1990. He didn't tell his fraternity brothers about his illness until he asked for their help organizing a bone marrow drive. However, Jonathan did not organize the drive for himself, but for 3 year-old Anna Green from Chicago, who he heard had leukemia and needed a bone marrow transplant. He rallied other fraternities and sororities on the Northwestern campus and brought out thousands of people to be registered.

Sadly, Jonathan succumbed to leukemia the following year. The members of ZBT at Northwestern joined the Leukemia Research Foundation as a chapter, and have held annual our annual fundraising event, Fence In, ever since. They have raised more than $100,000 since 1992.

The members of ZBT host an annual fundraising event, Fence-In, a concert featuring Chicago musicians held this year on May 18th. This event draws between 500 and 1000 attendees each year.
