Levaya for Zehavik Zalmy Grose
Donation protected
This past Shabbos our dear friend Zehavik Zalmy Gross was נסתלק from this world at the young age of 37. Zehavik was born in New Jersey, grew up in South Carolina, and eventually became a Chassidish Jew living in Crown Heights as a גר צדק. He passed away due to natural causes while visiting the West Coast.
Zehavik was the manager of a HASC group home in Crown Heights. To cover the needs of his residents he would often take long shifts at difficult hours. A tall man with unruly payos, Zehavik loved to attend shiurim, Shabbos meals and farbrengen, and in his free time volunteered at Chevra Ahavas Yisroel. Zehavik had a winsome sense of humor and was a former powerlifter. His Mashpia was Rabbi Aaron Raskin, Rav of Chabad of Brooklyn Heights.
The mitzvah to care for converts is mentioned more than any other mitzvah in the Torah (36 times). Zehavik built a Jewish life for himself with his own hands and without the resources many of us take for granted. Now that he has passed, it's up to our community to complete the חסד של אמת of his burial. Donations will be used to cover the cost of the plot, the Chevra kadisha, airfare and transportation, overseen by Chabad of Brooklyn Heights and Chevra Ahavas Yisroel.
