Help Mark see his daughter grow up!
Hello everyone, I'm creating this page for my dear friend, Mark Kolozsvari.
For those who may not know Mark personally, he’s a genuine, fun, loving, and compassionate person; very down-to-earth and kind. He’s also an avid kitesurfer and the loving father of a beautiful six-year-old girl; who is his world.
Unfortunately there was a dark and unexpected turn in Mark’s life. A few months ago, he was diagnosed with a very aggressive stage two bone cancer called osteosarcoma. The tumor is in his right ankle and it grew twice in size within three months. His doctor said, had the cancer been in his lungs, his prognosis would be three months to live. That’s how aggressive it is. As per the doctor's request which is the standard protocol for this type of cancer he immediately started to undergo the highest dose of chemotherapy.
His doctor also said that due to the aggressiveness of his cancer, even if the chemotherapy treatment is successful, he will need to amputate his right leg below the knee to avoid risking further complications.
When Mark told me this story a few weeks ago my heart sank. He said he’s made peace with the fact that he will lose his leg. He just doesn’t want to die. He wants to raise his daughter. He wants to see her grow up. She is his life.
Like many in Los Angeles, Mark is struggling with all his increasing expenses. Along with his cancer and growing medical bills, he has a daughter to support. While undergoing chemotherapy, he is not able to work and it puts a huge financial burden on him. He is 48 years old. He should have another 40 years to live to see his beloved daughter grow, mature, flourish, and prosper.
I would like to ask you, to contribute any amount you can to help Mark. It would mean the world to him, to his daughter, to me, and to those who care for him.
The funds will be used to pay for medical and living expenses while he is undergoing treatment.
The whole treatment and recovery process will take 10 months.
Here is the breakdown the funds will be used for:
-$8,000 for insurance premium and deductible
-$22.000 ($2200 per month for 10 months) of living expenses; which include the amputation and subsequent recovery,
-5 rounds of chemotherapy for four months
-Below knee amputation
-Recovery from surgery for two months
-Another round of Chemotherapy (standard protocol for his particular cancer assuming all goes well with surgery, previous treatment, etc.).
It all equals to a total of $30.000.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this. Please everyone, I want to help Mark through this difficult time but I cannot do it alone so I kindly ask you to spread the word and donate if you can. God bless you all!
