Hello,
I'd like start by saying I am creating this GoFundMe page for a very humble, proud, and fiercely independent Family. A Family that has God and his Son Jesus Christ at the center of everything they do. This Family puts everyone 1st in their lives. They are truly servants of God. It is my hope they this may take some worry and burden off so they can cherish every moment with their Family...especially the young man I'm about to tell you about.
Levi Horton is 17 years old this year and he has fought fiercely for every one of those years. You see, he was born with a pilocytic astrocytoma brain tumor. By the time he was 18 months old the tumor had grown to nearly the size of a grape fruit. The first surgery to release pressure in Levi's skull caused a stroke that left the little fella paralyzed on his left side. A second surgery removed much of the tumor but part of it had to be left due to its location around his optic nerves and the hypothalamus. Chemo therapy was started with the hopes that it would shrink the remaining tumor in the areas too dangerous to remove. This was a very tough time. Levi being so young did not want to eat and did not have the understanding due to his age that he simply had to. Nutrition drinks that were extremely expensive kept Levi alive until chemo was over. Unfortunately the tumor once again grew to an enormous size. Another brain surgery was needed. Although it was completely unexpected Levi was left totally blind after the surgery. This was an enormous shock to everyone and left us all devastated. The one and only strong, calm, and comforting source at that time was Levi. A six year old was the rock that everyone stood on. He did not once complain, cry about it, or show anger towards his unexpected curve ball that life had thrown. While in ICU he could hear other children crying and hurting and he was so worried about them. If there was moment of complaint it came when Levi said “now I won’t be able to see my pretty Mommy’s face”. That was the extent of his complaining if that can be considered a complaint. He had an inner peace that I’ve never seen from anyone on this earth. Not only was Levi left with limited use of his left side at the age of 18 months, he was now blind and his kidney function was altered due to damage to his hypothalamus.
Cas and Marcia (Levi’s Mom & Dad) has managed so many issues and difficulties with grace and peace knowing that God has a plan for their family. Like his Daddy Levi has accepted the call to preach the Word of the Lord and Minister to others. He has inspired so many in his short life to turn to God through Christ our Lord and has inspired everyone from little children to Grammy Award winning Christian music artists. He was once going to show a visitor to his church something he was working on, but the man couldn’t find the light switch in a pitch black room. Levi told him…”that’s OK, I’ll take care of you…I’ll lead you”. His faith in God and in others has never wavered. He is someone that you can depend on to take care of you.
This Child of God has been such a Blessing to so many and unfortunately his brain tumor has grown back and is very large. The cyst that has grown off the tumor is equally as large. In addition there are 3 new tumors on his spine. The brain tumor is wrapped in and around the hypothalamus and any further damage to that area may cause more than his kidneys not to function properly as you can imagine. Levi is 17, but he is a strong young man in my eyes. His body may be broken and he may still look like a young boy not yet in his teens, but he is as mentally strong as anyone I’ve ever known.
As I write this I do not know what treatment options may be available, but I do know that I feel compelled by the Holy Spirit to create this GoFundMe page. The funds will go to the Horton Family to help ease their financial burden and allow them to spend more time with Levi and his Sisters. Your prayers for Levi and his Family are the most important contribution, but if you feel led to make a monetary contribution I can assure you that this is a deserving Family!
Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and/or contributions. May God Bless you all!!!
