Lexie's Painful Journey: New Legs Needed
Hi there, my name is Lexie Bader. I am 28 years old, and I have two prosthetic legs. I lost my legs due to a rare nerve disease, but I refuse to feel sorry for myself or let this stop me. I am extremely active in snowboarding, camping, wakeboarding, mountain biking, and I'm also a dump truck driver. I have never let my “disability” stop me from being self-sufficient and an active participant in all life has to offer.
Here's a link you can watch to see a little about me and how I lost my legs.
But I am struggling. My prosthetic legs are almost three years old. They are broken, and literally being held on with duct tape and glue, and one of my prosthetic feet is broken at the heel. My insurance will not cover new legs or feet.
I can still walk but I am dealing with daily swelling, bruising, and pain. I haven’t let this stop me from working. But I have had to stop participating in the activities that bring me joy.
I hate asking for help. I’m a strong woman who, despite great odds, works hard to do everything for myself. But I am hoping you can help me get the legs I need to live life to the fullest again.
Thank you so much for anything you can donate!
