Lexi's Journey - lexistrong

Donation protected
On April 13, 2017, our family received devastating news. Our Lexi (McArthur), just 15 years old, was diagnosed with leukemia. It was very shocking for everyone who knows her, as she is the most active and vibrant young lady. But no one experienced more sorrow from the news than her dad, Shavanaux McArthur, and her mom, Angel Alires.

Lexi is a very strong and brave girl and she is now fighting the fight of her life! She started her first round of chemotherapy a couple of days after her diagnosis and she will be in the hospital for a full month. Lexi has been a champ while dealing with the cruel, but necessary side affects of chemotherapy. Lexistrong!!

Once this round of chemotherapy is finished Lexi will get to go home for anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, until she will have to return for another round of chemotherapy and another month long hospital stay. Lexi will need a total of 4 treatments, each with a month long stay. There is a posibility of more hospital stays if she needs a bone marrow transplant, but we are praying vigilantly that it is not necessary. Needless to say, Shavanaux and Angel have been, and will be by her side for Lexi's entire journey and they will continue to be for as long as it takes to get her home for good!

I feel like I need to mention this... Those of you who know my brother, know that he is not one to ask for help. In fact, we asked him about setting up a gofundme account when we found out that they would be at the hospital for a while, knowing that he and Angel would not be working while Lexi needs treatment. He asked us to hold off, but so many friends and family have asked us, and them, if we set up a gofundme account because they WANT to help. So after some gentle urging, they finally agreed, but not without reluctance. We didn't set a dollar amount goal (just $1), as we appreciate any amount to help them out. No pressure.

Those of you who have the pleasure of knowing Shavanaux (and Khavanaux, his other half) know that they are always there to help so many! No hestitation, no complaints, they just love their family and friends with all their hearts and they would do anything for any one of us. I would say that is their legacy, and what a great legacy to be known for! I for one, don't know what I would have done without their help in so many instances. Again, I know this is hard for Shavanaux and Angel to have this set up, but I know there are many of us who want to help!

Last, but definitley not least, please pray for Lexi whenever you have a free moment. Her recovery is the only wish that we all have and every prayer counts!

Thank you! And from our family, to all of you and yours, we also pray for your health and well being! We love you all!
