Lexus Swindon gets Muddy for the Food Collective

Do you want to join Lexus Swindon by making a difference in our local community? The team at Lexus Swindon are running the Tough Mudder course and getting Muddy to raise money and awareness for the Swindon Food Collective. Every donation will help this growing charity in a difficult time for many in our local area.

Since the Covid Pandemic, the numbers of people attending the food bank have amplified dramatically rising from 7,604 last year to 10,821 this year. This is steadily increasing month on month. In May 2023 alone the charity fed 891 people of which 28% were children. This increase is primarily driven by the cost of living crisis which has seen a dramatic increase in households facing a negative budget.

In conflict with this rising number, the level of food donations continues to decrease: donations of food are not keeping pace with the amount needed and this has resulted in the charity having to fund the purchase of products to fulfill the demand for support. Currently Swindon Food Collective is spending up to £2,000 a month on products such as tinned fruit, vegetables, soup, tomatoes, squash, sugar, and toiletries in an effort to provide for those in need.

We aim to raise at least £2000 to assist the team at the Swindon Food Collective and ensure that they have enough supplies to support those that need them in our local area.

We want to do our part to support those in need. To do this the Lexus Swindon team will be running the tough mudder course in Badmington on Saturday the 12th of August. The course features 13 famous teamwork-inspired obstacles including Arctic Enema, Cry Baby, Mudderhorn, and Electric Shock Therapy, the team will face tear gas, ice-cold plunges, and lots and lots of mud! In addition to this the team will also be volunteering at the food bank in the lead-up to Christmas to support the Charity at its busiest time of year.

For all of those that are kind enough to donate, we promise to provide lots of muddy pictures of the team in exchange. Don't you want to see the Lexus Swindon team caked in mud??

Thank you to all of you that can support us.

Lexus Swindon.
