Support LGBTQI in Kakuma Refugee Camp - medical emergency
Donation protected
Greetings, peace, and love from the Kakuma Gorom youth queer refugees.
As it's our mandate and obligation to help each other and to be there for ourselves after all the social, economic, and political institutions prejudicely disowned us due to our sexual orientation,
We're here with an outcry, among the many concerns and needs amongst us, one of us by the name of Shannon Ssozi, age 34, who has been suffering with *a familial genetic umbilical hernia,* is continuously going through an unbearable pain, experiences a series of convulsions, migraines, dizziness, and severe vomiting.
We have reached out to the camp health centre, but due to its dilapidated condition and lack of experienced doctors, they've always administered him with painkillers as a tempolary remedy and advised him to seek better services (an immediate operation otherwise it will develop into a cancer) from a private hospital in town.
The young man, whose dream, just like the rest of us, is to be free from stigma, and all sorts of denial has lost hope and is on his deathbed. The hernia has caused a swelling and protrusion that has made it hard for him to sit or stand for longer hours and also lay down in one posture.
So it's at this leverage that we call upon all your support and help to have him operated on before the situation gets of hand.
His situation is worsening that he has started vomiting blood, and defecating is very hard.
Full treatment and surgery is 4400$, any additional funds collected will go to the queer refugee groups to help with food, shelter and other medical expenses. Thank you.
[I am in direct contact with them, and directly send all funds received. Feel also free to contact me if you also wish to talk to them and/or support them directly - they also are regularly in needs of support for food, water, medicine, materials, mattresses, mosquito nets, and funds in case of emergencies. Medical costs are especially difficult to cover, as UNHCR is not providing sufficient support in most cases so they have no choice to go to doctors and hospitals that ask them for money that they often do not have. Every cent helps. Thank you. ]
