LGBTQ advocacy work in cycling industry and sport

Donation protected
Molly Cameron is fundraising to offset the expenses of doing national advocacy work while launching a national organization for LGBTQ+ representation in the bicycling industry and sport.

We need funding immediately to continue doing this advocacy work and to launch the organization. This initial round of fundraising will be applied directly to offsetting expenses already incurred:

- travel to interface in person with local individuals and regional orgs, business leaders and communities to build relationships
- housing at events, summits, meetings and conferences
- on the ground travel expenses
- outreach to the business, sporting and advocacy communities
- work hours in meetings, connecting and interfacing with national and global businesses and organizations
- writing copy, editing, producing policy, mission statement, pledge/declaration and developing action items
- interfacing with advisors and our advisory board on consulting, advice and steering the organization
- compensating members of the LGBTQ+ community that are assisting the organization
- cost of the website hosting and email services
- media production and planning
- setting up business structure at state and federal level
- cost associated with setting up Non-Profit 501c3 status

Molly has been toiling behind the scenes doing LGBTQ+ advocacy within the bicycling industry and sport for the last 20 years and recognized that it is time the community has confidential, dignified representation within a national lobbying organization that works FOR our community on all aspects of cycling.

As an internationally respected transgender athlete, a professional women's team owner and as a trusted bicycle industry leader, her organization's mission is to improve the experience of all LGBTQ+ people in bicycling and to educate and guide the industry and sport to better awareness, inclusivity and representation.

A personal note; on March 25th 2021, the day the first of hundreds of anti-LGBTQ bills were signed into law in the US, I shifted my entire focus of work and energy onto this effort. The last 3 months have seen me spending 10-12 hour days in meetings and interfacing with local and regional communities, business leaders, civic leaders, global brands, other LGBTQ orgs and activists, politicians, race and event promoters and sporting governing bodies across the United States. There are a lot of folks and orgs that want to help; but they are not equipped to do it and do not have the experience as a queer transgendered person to accurately speak to it. I have been taking immediate action where I can and laying the foundation for longer work and goals.

This is not a short term initiative, this is a years long effort and it needs to be sustainable.

There is so much vital work to do to elevate all marginalized communities in bicycling and I am leveraging every single one of my long relationships and my reputation in the industry and sport to help cycling progress forward in a positive, open, respectful and solution drive manner. Help me continue to engage with grassroots communities and global businesses to come together with solutions that best serve our communities.

While I am deeply grateful for your support, what matters most is our youth. I am doing this work so that those that come after me can simply be themselves without facing the discrimination that I have faced in my life and that all marginalized communities continue to deal with.
