LGBTQ Community Holiday Meal

Hello!

My name is Nikolai and I am the owner of Pop Fizzion and a member of the LGBTQ+ Community. We're teaming up with the Diversity Center and Dads Hug Too to curate and provide holiday meals this Thanksgiving.

This year has been a complete and utter shit show for the LGBT Community and I feel like a lot more of us will be displaced for the holidays than usual.

I've been thinking about trying to pull together a free holiday meal situation where LGBT community members can come, get a hot meal during the holiday season and be with our community and allies in a place of love.

We have a commercial kitchen space and a place to hold the meal donated to us already here in Oklahoma City, but we will need funding for groceries to cook the food and items such we plates, cups, napkins, utensils, etc.

Given the number of people turning up to other community events, we expect to provide meals to 75-100 community members this Thanksgiving.

I have this huge need in my heart to help my community this year. We always say we want to do a soup kitchen or something over the holidays and have never been able to for one reason or another. I know so many in our community are under-served and overlooked.

I want this to be a place where even if you're financially okay you can still come and get a plate and be surrounded with warmth instead of being alone.

I'm not well connected in the area but these are my people. And we're collectively hurting. Holidays are hard enough other years, I want this one to be safe.

Any excess funds will be set aside to do other holiday or community meal events. If it goes well, I'd like to do quarterly community events like this! I'd love to do a repeat for Christmas, too.
