"Li'l Mayne and the Knuckleheads" is a full-length feature, filmed in 5K and built for the cinema. The movie is totally completed and is ready for the theater and video on demand.
The lead characters in the movie are primarily African-American teens, and together with 60 other fantastic actors from all ethnicities and age groups, they tell a moving and interesting tale.
“Li’l Mayne & The Knuckleheads” is a story in the life of a 15-year-old boy and his friends. They all live in low-income project housing on the east side of town. Li’l Mayne is a teen prodigy - a mathematical genius - trapped in a tough environment. His friends cause assorted mischief, saying, “We don’t have nuthin’ else to do!” Along the way, they interact with an assortment of teen and adult characters who seek to influence their lives for good or for ill. Dramatic and often humorous, “Li’l Mayne & The Knuckleheads" takes us on a ride we won’t soon forget!
Ours is not your usual drug-and-gun “hood” film. We have excellent dialogue, brief intense scenes of action, and strong moral substance in our message. It is both entertaining and informative.
The primary objectives of the film are these:
1: To create a well-produced film, which displays the acting abilities of talented black and brown teens, in order to inspire and encourage other young people of color to tell their story.
2: To illustrate and thereby encourage friendships between people of different races and ethnicities.
3: To provide a different kind of commentary on how life is lived among many low-income people in America.
4: To remind us all that a close walk with God is the easiest walk.

"Li’l Mayne & The Knuckleheads" was written and produced by Brian K. Burns. He is a film producer, director, musician, and writer. He has written over 200 songs as a BMI affiliate, and has directed music videos, television and web commercials, and a 12-film series episodic. He is also the director of a 501c3 nonprofit which helps fathers reconnect properly with their children.
"I wrote the screenplay to this film over a decade ago, after having worked with underprivileged teens for over 23 years. I dedicated a portion of my life to these young people. Many died on the streets, or went to prison, but some ultimately escaped their surroundings and now lead productive lives. It is to them, and the ones who have fallen, that I dedicate this movie."

We have a very active support base in the Houston, Texas market, which has an extremely large and active African-American movie-goer community. We also have a large following throughout Texas, the nation, as well as in foreign countries.
The money we raise here on GoFundMe will be used to pay all outstanding remaining production costs, to advertise and market our film at festivals and other media, and for theater engagements. This is a $300,000 film, and we have come up just a little short! We need your help...
