Liam Fights Bone Cancer
Donation protected
In March of 2023 Liam began complaining of leg pain. His leg continued to bother him, and in mid May it became swollen and more painful so we went to his pediatrician. We were then sent to TOA where an xray indicated a major problem with his right femur. On May 18, 2023 Vanderbilt Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon confirmed that Liam had Osteosarcoma of the right femur. This lead to numerous tests and seeing numerous doctors. Vanderbilt Onocolgy began chemotherapy on Liam on May 31 2023. The scheduled chemotherapy will go about one year, with a surgery in August 2023 to remove a large portion of Liam's right femur that has the cancerous bone tumor growing. A donor bone is supposed to be used to replace the damaged bone. After the surgery, another 6 months of chemotherapy is to be done.
The hospital stays are 2 to 3 days and 4 to 6 days each week of treatment.
I have worked for the Hendersonville Police Department as a Detective for 23 years. I've been off work since May 15 2023 taking care of Liam. I am a single dad with custody of 4 young children (ages 9 to 14). I've been at the hospital every day that he has been there for each of his 3 hospital stays so far. It's hard to write stuff about yourself and your family, so I'll close by letting you know how much your support means. Thank you.
