Liam Payne - Chicago Memorial Tree
Donation protected
Hi All, I am raising money for a memorial tree in Chicago for Liam Payne. In the wake of his recent passing, Chicago directioners came together in Lincoln Park to memorialize him, pay our respects, say goodbye, and be in the presence of others who love him just as much as we do. Although this memorial has been beautiful, it is temporary, and a memorial tree would be a permanent way to show our love to Liam. This tree would be able to be visited at any time, a place we can go together or on our own to grieve him, celebrate him, and to remember him.
I have chosen a Red Oak tree for a few reasons. According to EcoTree.com, "The Red Oak is often associated with absolute love. It is probably because of its vivid colour, its leaves that turn red in the autumn and its ever-shining appearance that the Red Oak represents passionate and absolute love." Along with the fact that the Red Oak symbolizes love, red is also the color of his Mic, and the leaves are said to be the most vibrant in the autumn, aligning with his birthday on August 29th. This specific tree requires spring planting, which starts Mary 1st. I know that is a while away, but I feel it is important to do this right and have a meaningful symbol and wait a bit longer.
Under Chicago's Green Deed Tree Dedication Program, the Red Oak is considered a 'shade tree' which are sturdier trees that grow taller. Shade trees cost $800, and I have added $50 to cover the service cost of GoFundMe as well as any additional taxes from the city of Chicago. Any left over money (if there is any) will go towards supporting 'Liam's Law ', a proposed law that protects artists' mental health and wellbeing.
I will provide updates we raise more money and details come together. Thank you for supporting <3
