I have PCOS and Endometriosis, I have had two operations to remove cysts from my ovaries and burn away endometriosis meaning parts of each ovary have had to be removed each time. My gynaecologist has said he will not operate again due to me having too much scar tissue on my organs and he would only operate as a last resort which would result in him performing a complete hysterectomy as my ovaries and womb wouldn’t survive another operation. My left ovary is currently stuck too and stuck behind my womb. Since I was young I struggled with pain and heavy irregular periods and I was given all different kinds of birth control and hormones to help which included the implant which then made my period come every two weeks so I had to take the pill on top of that, this caused me to put on weight rapidly. I was 20 before I was diagnosed with PCOS as my GP refused to send me for tests as he didn’t think I had it, I had to demand it and I got it confirmed by blood test then an ultrasound which confirmed I had an 8cm by 7cm dermoid cyst on my right ovary and lots of small cysts on my left ovary. At age 23 I got my first operation to remove those cysts and during that operation the discovered I had endometriosis and all my insides were stuck together and they had to use a laser to separate them. I have had 6 miscarriages in 11 years with no explanation of why they happen as all tests were clear but I was prescribed cyclogest for the next time I got pregnant as a precaution. I don’t ovulate every month for instance I ovulated in May but the time before that was November so this makes it harder for me to get pregnant. I can’t get IVF on NHS due to my weight due to the medication I get put on to help with bleeding and other symptoms and all of this makes it hard for me to lose weight and during flare ups I can’t exercise due to the pain or heavy bleeding. Most days when I’m bleeding I can’t leave the house due to leaking through everything and my bleeding can last from 10 days to 4 weeks. I have tried everything and fought for everything and I keep getting doors slammed in my face, this is my last resort to try and be a mum which is all I’ve ever wanted. My life is consumed by it, I live and breath ovulation tests, pregnancy tests, researching different things to try, taking different vitamins and other combination of pills to try and help but so far all has failed and this is why I need IVF. We need to go private due to my weight and this will cost us £7000.
