Graduation Fund for Liberty Avenue Middle School!

Our middle school resides in the community of East NY, Brooklyn. We are a very close-knit community, and are always eager to celebrate every accomplishment in our students' daily lives. We are extremely grateful to have such wonderful and caring students, and many of them have done well trying to adapt to online learning and the current situation. Unfortunately, several of our students and their families have also been personally impacted by the pandemic; our community in ENY was hit particularly hard by COVID-19. It has been a difficult time for all of us, and our students and their families are trying their best to persevere through all of it.
In short, our 8th grade class of 180 students are in need of a box of sunshine/care package to celebrate them and their graduation. While we cannot celebrate in person, we will do what we can to make this moment special for them, which will be a virtual graduation held on June 25th.
**Right now we are hoping to raise a minimum of $1,500 for our 8th grade care packages. Any leftover money we raise will be donated to struggling families in our school community in the form of a supermarket gift card. Our school is a Title 1 school, which means that we have a high percentage of students from low-income families. Many families are currently struggling to make ends meet right now, and they would greatly benefit from any food assistance that we can help them with.**
We are currently asking for donations to fund our 2020 virtual Graduation Celebration for our 8th grade class. Our school currently does not have any funds to buy and send out these care packages, which is why we are asking for a little bit of help from all of you! With the money that we hope to raise, we want to put together care packages for our 8th graders and safely distribute them before their graduation. The care packages will be packed by teacher volunteers and driven out all around the NYC area by more teacher volunteers.
Each care package will include a graduation cap, decorations for the students, candy, and possibly even more surprises for them if we can get enough donations. For students who are not currently residing in the NYC area, we will need to ship out these care packages so the students receive it in time.
We need these funds no later than Friday, May 29th in order to purchase the items, coordinate logistics, and organize our teacher volunteers. You donation will make the graduation of many 8th grade students one to truly remember. Thank you so much for supporting our community.
