Liberty's accident and surgery
Donation protected
Yesterday was one of those days I wish we could just take back and do over. We went up to Starbuck to visit family.
Travis was helping move some tree's on the four wheeler and Liberty wanted to go with, so he set her on his lap for the two block drive, holding on to her.
Liberty's leash fell and caught the four wheeler tire, throwing her to the ground, it all happened so fast we didn't know if she was run over or not.
We took off to find the closest emergency vet open on a Saturday at 5:30pm, I bet we called 10 different vets, everyone was closed, or didn't have the room to take us, my heart just sank, our only option was a 3 hour drive to the cities from where we were and we didn't even know if she could make it that long.
It was hard, I held her on my lap trying to comfort her and every bump on the road she cried, I felt so bad but she fought through and we finally made it to the emergency vet.
They checked her over and confirmed she has a broken femur, everything else looked ok but the femur would require surgery and that would have to wait until Monday, they don't do surgery on the weekends.
So she's still in the hospital, heavily sedated and on pain meds, we have already maxed our card with the $3100 weekend emergency fees and are being told surgery is $5000-$7000 and then there is after care.
We just don't have that kind of money laying around, and some people may say she's just a dog, but to us she's family and with this surgery she can live a happy normal life and we feel we owe that to her, so although we don't know how we're going to afford it, we are going to go ahead with the surgery.
Asking for help isn't something we normally do, and it's hard to do but Liberty is important to us and we want to make this work for her. So if your heart speaks to you to help, thank you If all you can give is a share or a prayer we will take that too! Thank you
