Planting a Seed Where There's A Need

What started with one box of old books on a classroom floor... a student who wanted to send books to a struggling school in Liberia, Africa... and a teacher who asked, "How can I help?" evolved into an important humanitarian gesture.

When my former student from Liberia, Africa (Monrovia) told me that a public library does not exist in his country; without hesitation I asked, "How can I help?" In 2019, I resigned from teaching and founded the Library for Africa, Inc. organization.

During my visit to Liberia (March 10-17, 2023), I had to opportunity to visit the land site where the future library will be built in Liberia, Africa (Bentol City - Montserrado County).

Our MAJOR mission is to build the "first" public library in Liberia
Our GOAL is to raise $350,00 to begin Phase 1 of construction.

I also visited a K-9 school. As I toured the school, I noticed something was missing. BOOKS. I did not see any books in the classrooms (literally not one book). I told the students that they would be receiving books and supplies that the LFA organization shipped in advance of my arrival. I also told them that plans are underway to build a library in Liberia. They were super excited!

The future library will benefit those who do not have access to equitable educational opportunities. A library can change the trajectory of many lives for generations to come. The library will be named: LIBRARY FOR LIBERIA
