“Leaders Read & Readers Lead”: Al Huda Islamic School Library Fundraiser

My name is Yasmeen Azam, and I am asking you to donate to my alma mater’s library project. Al Huda Islamic School (AIS), located in Hawthorne California, is opening a small library on campus that students of all grade levels can access, check out books from, and utilize as a research and group meeting space. We are envisioning a humble space fully equipped with laptops (that provide academic databases and Adobe applications), quality Islamic books, and literary gems like novels and biographies for all reading levels. We are also planning to release programming such as author meet-and-greets, book clubs, student-facilitated poetry nights, and more. Ultimately, we hope to foster a small space of unbounded creativity, high-quality books across genres and grade levels, and state-of-the-art technology for school projects and individual endeavors.

AIS produces some of the most brilliant, curious, well-rounded, and high-aspiring students. AIS recently acquired WASC accreditation, a testament to its track record of providing excellent and consistent quality education for 25 years. Despite the school’s intellectual flurry, there is a limitation of resources. This is why we, the community, must step in and help. I ask you, sincerely, to donate any amount you can.

100% of your donation will be going towards this project and we will continue to keep you posted on the progressing steps until our launch event. We pray that AIS raises enough funds for a library to provide quality resources and foster an environment of sustained love of reading amongst students, insha’Allah. This is a community-led initiative to best serve our children as they become God-conscious, well-read, and critical leaders.
