Liesl and Meriah's Jeep Miracle
Donation protected
I am Susan Chipman, Meriah's mom. Meriah, Liesl, Landon, and Tyler were having many ask how they could help which is why/how this Gofund me was initiated.
On 1/12/23, Meriah, Liesl and each of their daughters were headed home in Liesl's Jeep Wrangler when they were caught up in the tornados causing a large tree to fall on the cabin of the jeep. The tree had both Meriah and Liesl pinned in the front seats for about an hour and a half as emergency crews scrambled to get to the scene to help. In an absolute miracle, both babies were extracted from the Jeep by the gentleman that was directly behind them without a single scratch on them. The next vehicle was a Fayetteville officer returning home and was able to call for help with her radio as all cell phone service was down. Meriah's husband was the 5th car on the scene returning home from work. He pulled up on the accident not knowing it was his sister's Jeep with his wife, daughter, and niece in it. He and the first gentleman on the scene took both babies to the nearest house where the family had a 3-year-old that kept both babies occupied. Liesl's husband also showed up about 20 minutes after the incident returning home from work. After approximately an hour and a half, Liesl and Meriah were extracted from the Jeep and transported to the Grady trauma center. Both Meriah and Liesl sustained fractures and broken bones in their necks and backs. Liesl required surgery to remove a fractured disc in her neck. Both are expected to make full recoveries after extensive physical therapy. Both were stay-at-home moms that will not be able to take care of the kids on their own for a couple of months.
The funds from this fundraiser will go towards the gas to get them to and from physical therapy which will be anywhere from 6-12+ weeks long. They will also be used to pay for unexpected childcare expenses, bills, groceries, and to help cover each of their part-time job pay loss. The funds will be split 50-50 amongst Meriah and Liesl's families.
This was absolutely a miracle that the injuries were not worse and that the babies came out completely unharmed. God was with them in that Jeep and is not done with these ladies and their daughters. Thank you so much for any help!
