Alex and Nathan's Dream Fund
Donation protected
He was Paul to his family, French friends, and co-workers. To many of his American homies, he was Billy (a humorous shared name of his own devising). To his children, however, he was Dadoun - a fittingly unique nickname (just as he had bestowed on so many of his other friends).
In the days following their father's death, Nathan and Alex asked their mom whether this meant that they would never travel to the places Dadoun had always said he would take them -- legendary skate parks such as Woodward, with multiple destinations worldwide, being at the top of the list, and Jamaica, the place of his roots, rounding it out.
Sarah's reply was that in fact they *must* go there now, for Dadoun, and to complete his dream for his sons. And that she would take them herself to these places in honor of him, and as per his wishes. It is her fervent hope that a trip or trips of this nature could be one way to help the boys experience joy and a sense that life can go on even in Paul's absence.
In this spirit, we have created Alex and Nathan's Dream Fund -- to provide for the future hopes and joys for this now family-of-three.
The road ahead, through the many stages of grief combined with various logistical and financial difficulties, will be challenging in many ways, particularly for a now single mother of two boys, ages 11 and 13. As a network of people who loved Paul we want to make sure the Dream Fund is also big enough to be a backup/emergency fund, in the case of unforeseen needs and unexpected expenses. There may be obstacles which can't be predicted right now, and we want to ensure that the family has a cushion on which to rely if needed.
If you've ever loved or been loved by this very special family, please consider contributing any amount, large or small, that will help weave together this Dream Fund. <3
