Life Changing Chance for Toby

This appeal is going out to friends and fmaily who love our son, Toby Derrick.  Toby is a great kid and has brought energy and love to our lives since we brought him home from Guatemala 12 years ago when he was 19 months old.  Toby has struggled with a number of issues throughout his life including severe ADHD and generalized anxiety.  The last couple of years have become increasingly challenging for Toby.  We are at the place of needing to consider specific therapeutic options to best meet his needs both educationally and emotionally.  He already has great doctors and therapists; however, there remain significant gaps in executive function, emotional regulation, and emotional coping that are necessary to helpToby move into the 8th grade best equipped to succeed.  These are areas in which the school and care team are in agreement that addtional intentional support is needed. We have found some therapies and other programs for him and are now exploring how to make them possible. We also have found a top 20 ranked therapeutic school here in Denver that will be a great fit for Toby beginning next year - and he has been accepted there. But since it is a private school, the pricetag is quite high.  We are investigating as many financial aid options as possible, and the long haul will require significant sacrifice; but again, we need a little help to make the initial leap into this school possible.   

We are honestly at the point of knowing that we must make major changes for Toby now or there may be severe consequences for his education and his future.  We love him dearly and know that you all love him as well.  If you are able to help out at all, both we and Toby would see it as an investment in and a blessing of  his future.
