Life changing Spinal Surgery for Vera Bikova

Hello! My name is Robyn Johnson, and I personally know my sweet Ukrainian friend Vera. She has tremendous health issues due to severe scoliosis and congenital deformity and requires immediate surgery! Please read the full story below and donate to help her breathe, sit up and someday walk again!!!

I had the pleasure of meeting my young friend, Vera Bikova, 17 years ago in the once idyllic town of Gorlivka, Ukraine. At the time, she was 12 years old, happy, bright, friendly and loved practicing her newly acquired English skills with me and fellow Americans. At the time, she had scoliosis, limited ability to walk and mostly was in her wheelchair. She lived with her mother, father, 2 Grandmothers and Grandfather in a small Ukrainian apartment.

Unfortunately, in 2014, harsh Russian soldiers and bandits took over their town, forcing them to flee to another city in Northern Ukraine, Kharkiv, leaving behind friends, family and possessions. Unfortunately again, they are in a war torn city and country with limited access to supplies and medicine.

I am reaching out for financial support for Vera, due to the effects of her Scoliosos rapidly advancing to stage 4, which is damaging all her organs, at this point in time she can't get out of bed at all! Sweet Vera has a congenital disorder of movement, muscle tone and posture. Terrible feet deformity and substantial decrease of the ability of her lungs to function, therefore she isn't able to breathe well.

HOWEVER!!! A Doctor in the Ukrainian city of Dnepropetrovsk has agreed to perform a spinal surgery towards the end of August. It would significantly increase her quality and quantity of life! To be able to breathe, sit up and actually get out of bed! I want this so badly for this courageous young girl, who has had such difficulties in her life.

There is no insurance in Ukraine, therefore, Vera's mom, Svetlana, needs to pay the full amount upfront. The surgery costs them $10,000, and they have painstakingly saved half the amount. I am requesting your help and support for this crucial cause for Vera! All funds will be sent to Vera's mother Svetlana to pay for the spinal surgery. Thank you for any donations you can offer!
