Life Saving Aid For Rohingya In Cox's Bazaar - RCO

Donation protected
Greetings friends,

We are the Rohingya Charity Organization. We work with our partners in Bangladesh to provide life saving aid to the Rohingya genocide survivors who are currently residing in the refugee camps in Cox's Bazaar. The camps here are the largest in the world, with half a million adults, and half a million children inhabiting them. Space is very limited, and this leads to disasters like fires, which destroy thousands of shelters a year, and epidemics, which spread as quickly as the fires, and without a moment's notice.

There are a lack of hygienic facilities in the camps, and improper waste management makes the situation even worse. Communicable diseases like hepatitis and typhoid are a constant threat to the health of the entire community.

Many of our resources go to paying for the much needed medical treatments of those who have no insurance, or money of their own. This little girl is Sama, a young Rohingya child who was suffering from typhoid. Thankfully we were able to get her to a doctor in time, allowing her to make a full recovery. We do what we can to help men and women, adults and children alike.

We also run community based learning centers, which educate more than 175 Rohingya boys and girls, and provide 6 Rohingya teachers with a modest monthly salary. We teach the Myanmar curriculum to 57 students, which includes math, science, reading, writing, and Burmese.

On top of our MCP program, we have two religious schools, which provide a religious education to 120 students. This religious education is a core aspect of Rohingya culture. To a people facing the erasure of their entire existence, religion is one of the last things they have to hold on to.

All of our schools are integrated, meaning we teach both boys and girls, discriminating against no one.

Education is important for many obvious reasons. One of the less obvious reasons is that it provides personal security to the children. Without access to education, most children simply wonder around the camps, exposing themselves to the many dangers lurking within. Our schools provide the children with a safe place in which their presence can be accounted for. It also gives peace of mind to their parents, who have very limited, essentially non existent, options for work.

We are also developing our weekly lunch program. We currently provide a single meal for 50 of our students every week on Friday. First, we want to be able to provide a weekly meal for all 170+ of our students, then we want to expand our program one day at a time until we can provide lunch for everyone Monday to Friday. The current rations being provided to the Rohingya by the WFP are at starvation levels, $12/person/month. This one lunch each week is enough to take significant pressure off of our students, as well as their parents. The more we can provide, the better off they all will be.

Our current goal is to raise enough money to fund our education program for an entire year. Once these expenses are taken care of, we can turn our attention to our next goal, which is to expand our lunch program.

We thank you for taking the time to read our fundraising proposal, we hope you will find it in your heart to give the gift of education to our students, who have been through more trouble than anyone should ever experience in an entire lifetime. If you are unable to donate to our cause, we understand. We only ask that you engage with our content, like, and share our messaging on social media. The more people who see our page, the more opportunity we have to make a difference in the lives of our students, and indeed the lives of the entire Rohingya community.

Thank you again, and know that we are always keeping you in our thoughts!

Best wishes,
