Rhett Murray a Art and Spanish HS Teacher from Nevada needs to get a life saving STEM CELL REPLACEMENT (Bone Marrow Transplant), At USC Norris Cancer Hospital, Part of the KECK Medical Center of USC in LA. He starts the 4 month treatment next week.
He was diagnosed last October with a rare cancer, called Extraglandular (primary) Choriocarcinoma of the Liver that spread like wild fire to his lungs, kidneys, spleen, and adrenaline glands. He started Chemotherapy the day of diagnosis since his organs were shutting down. It took 4 months to get through the 4 rounds of Chemo. He got his cancer number from 191,010 to 6. But 4 weeks after the Chemo ended his cancer number is rising again. We have been in the process of going back and forth from USC testing and getting qualified as a canadate for this 3 to 6 month process. That is way more intense than chemo alone. He has had to choose rather to let the cancer kill him softly (without much pain in the next 6 months) or go through this nightmare treatment to help aid in cancer medicine and hopefully become one of the first to survive this cancer.
We are fundraising to help pay for living expensive in LA, he will be IN and OUT of the hospital for weeks at a time but not able to leave the LA area.
We have already been SO grateful to all those that have helped us get through the first chemotherapy treatment. And hate to have to ask for more help but if you are able to donate, any amount would help and if not prayers and positive thoughts as always are needed and welcomed.
Rhett has been a Art/Spanish teacher for 26 years at Basic Acemedy, Schofield Middle School, CSN, and Anchorage School District. He is the father of 3 children and grew up in Springville Utah.
