Irene's kidney transplant… a matter of life
Donation protected
Hi all,
Meet my beautiful cousin, Irene. She has finally been approved for a kidney transplant after 2.5 years of suffering from kidney failure. Currently, her renal function is at only 13%, and the hospital will not add her name to the transplant list until she has $5000 to cover her out-of-pocket expenses, as well as $1500 for each of her parents, who will act as caregivers post-surgery. These funds are required to make sure she can pay for her medications and co-payments, and her parents can take time as needed to care for her and take her to her many follow-up appointments. Any additional funds will help support her family as she recovers. Diligent and proper aftercare is crucial for survival post-transplant. Irene has been unable to experience life's basic joys for a long time, and being approved for a transplant is a godsend. The next step depends on family, friends, loved ones, and strangers opening their hearts, giving anything they can, and sharing this campaign with their network of friends and family. When I asked Irene what she looks forward to most after her transplant, she said she wants to spend quality time with her family and make memories with her beautiful grandbabies. Irene is young and she deserves another chance at living after a lifetime of Type I Diabetes, her more recent diagnoses and the difficulties associated with it all.
